Understanding and Busting the Fear Levels

Image
As a child how many times have you heard the word be careful from your parents. As an adult or a parent how may time have you asked you child to be careful ? I have heard these words of carefulness being dished out by my parents and I am guilty of dishing these words to my kids. The above behaviors that is passed to us through generations could have played a significant role in our fears. Susan Jeffers [1] in her book Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway [2] defines 3 levels of fear. Let me explain the these fear levels to you and show the real origin of these fears. Level 1 Level 1 is the surface story and belongs to fearful events that happen to us. These events can be divided into 2 types, events that can "happen" to us and events that we are required to take action. Events that can happen to us and which we do not have apparent control can be listed as below Aging Becoming disabled Retirement Being alone Children leaving home Natural disasters Loss of financial security Ch...

You are the Creator of Time ?

Image
You should not approach time a scarce resource. You should come out the concept that, you exist separately from time. Also that time the master and you are the slave. As  Gay Hendricks [1] in his book The Big Leap [2] explains, that vast majority of people experience Newtonian time , where we assume that time exists separately and it constantly exerting pressure on us. Gay goes on to explain new way of looking at time, which he calls as Einstein time where you take the ownership of your time. This shift in view makes you the source and the creator of time. This sounds quite strange and unfamiliar to most of us. I will try to explain this concept using the following story. Lets assume that while you are doing some office or project work, your kid interrupts that work, asking to play with her. You refuse saying that you do not have time and continue working. After some time, you hear a loud noise and see your kid fallen unconscious on the ground. Now, you postpone the work and r...

Zones of Being

Image
Gay Hendricks [1] explains in his book The Big Leap [2], there are 4 zones, any human being would operate, while doing their daily activities. He further explains that, while most of us would operate in Zones of Competence or Excellence or Incompetence, we seldomly recognize our Zone of Genius.   I will be explaining these Zones pictorially taking the example of riding bicycle   Zone of Incompetence This Zone contains activities you do not do well and ones you do not enjoy doing like riding the tricycle as given in image above. Some of these activities could drain your energy. You may find these activities boring, irritating and prone to make more errors. There are other people in your team or group who can do these better and efficiently than you. Therefore it is better that you find ways to delegate these to another person or a system.  Learning new new skills or hobby also will be take time and create outcomes with more errors but does not fall into thi...
